It's not a trip to Estes Park without a stop at Grandma's Mountain Cookies. They are huge, soft, and delicious. Everything I want in a cookie! My favorites are the cookie sandwiches with buttercream filling. The snickerdoodles, to be precise. You can't eat a whole one in one sitting because they are so sweet (and filling) but they are awesome. We always buy a bag full and they last us a few days. I have never had a bad cookie here!

We were in search of hot cocoa on a cold, windy day and found Grandmas's Mtn Cookies along the way. The man at the counter was very nice and prepared our cocoa for us. Nothing fancy - various flavor of Swiss Miss and that's okay with me! The cookies looked really tasty, might need to stop in early to grab a fresh one tomorrow!

Stopped in for a yummy cookie and met the sweetest grandma ever! She laughed and talked with our kids. Gave us lots of samples and made us fall in love with her cookies! They are HUGE too! Don't miss this

We were in Estes Park early August 2013 and came across this store after a good dinner in town. We bought peanut butter cookie, double chocolate cookie and turtle brownie. All were stale and tasteless. All three were $9, which is not bad if they were delicious, but they were not. This place seems to be a hit and miss, which is kind of a shame because I was really in the mood for some tasty baked goods. We did buy the cookies close to closing (8:30pm) in the evening and I ended up throwing 90% of it away. Maybe buying early does the trick.

The grandmother running this place is what makes small towns like Estes Park so much fun to visit. Apparently her son works at a fancy bar in DC, in which the clientele runs from Congressmen to Presidents. His nightly tips eclipse most other people's weekly earnings. Not to be outdone, her grandson is the kid on the cover of the Nerf dart tag box. Let me repeat that - THE NERF DART TAG BOX. There is no greater accomplishment for an eight-year old kid. Oh, and apparently she (the grandmother) bakes cookies. The cookie sandwiches are insane.

Great big cookies. Wish my snickerdoodle had been much softer...... but the chocolate chip was good.

Someone told us these cookies were great and we walked all the way up here and I'm sorry they're not that good. In fact I took one bite and the rest I will be tossing tomorrow when I clean out the car from our trip. I guess the good thing was it was almost the end of the street so we walked further than we would have if not looking for this cookie that was to be so great. Price was ridiculous as well.!

My family and I trudged our way up a shop-lined street, passing numerous ice cream and candy shops, just to visit this place. We love Grandma's Cookies in St. Charles, MO and thought, because of the similar name, this would be a similar experience. Wrong! The cookies that they have displayed in their storefront window looked chalky and old, but we decided to try them anyway. Rather than buying a cookie for everyone, we decided to get just one for each of us to taste and then purchase more if everyone liked It. I found them a bit pricey at $2.50 per large cookie, but was thankful to get away with just buying one. Our chocolate chip cookie was dry and very bland. It crumbled easily after we broke it apart and tasted old. The shop was small and the employees were very nice. I was hoping to be greeted with the wonderful smell of fresh baked cookies, but was left wanting. There are many dessert shops competing for your money on this road. I would recommend trying something else.

Every single time I visit Estes Park I have to get a cookie or two from here. Most of the time it's for dessert or just to satisfy my sweet tooth (I feel like the cookie monster when I walk in there). Sure the cookies are a little pricey, but they are a delicious treat. I always get a sugar cookie and occasionally a snicker doodle or peanut butter chocolate chip.

The grandmother that works here is the sweetest woman in the world! She absolutely loves her job, is so welcoming, and even bakes dog treats for all the dogs that stroll by. The cookies are a little pricey but well worth it, as they are huge and delicious! Definitely need to stop in if you are ever in the area!

I walked in just before closing and grabbed 2 cookies. The cookies were thick and heavy, a lot of cookie to knaw upon. A little pricey but delish nonetheless. The peanut butter cookie i had would have been fantastic with some milk or maybe a coffee and the M&M dipped macadamia (???) was also yummy. I have to give 3 stars because I think it was about $6-$7 for 2 cookies and that seems a bit outrageous. Otherwise I wasn't disappointed.

What is the cure for altitude sickness after trekking about Rocky Mountain National Park? COOKIES!!! Duh :-) I had a snickerdoodle and Kat and I brought a chocolate chip back for the roommate as a birthday treat. I loved that it was doughier than usual, because it was thick and chewy and perfect for a hot cup of cocoa on a chilly chilly day. Like a previous reviewer, the cookies are a little pricey at $2 a piece but you dont need more than one, and if you buy 6, you get 1 for free! It is small, quaint and a nice treat on a stroll through the small town of Estes Park.

THe cookies smelled and looked good, but Im afraid the richness and sweetness of a great cookie was not there. I found them rather bland and lacking sweetness. pity cause they looked great.

Yeah, only 2 stars. The cookies LOOKED delish but were very disappointing. We had peanut butter chocolate chip which had a sprinkling of chocolate chips and not much peanut butter.and butterscotch oatmeal which also had a sprinkling of butterscotch chips (if I didn't know they were butterscotch I wouldn't have known) and I think they forgot the oatmeal. If you are looking for a quick cookie fix and don't mind paying $2.80 each then give it a try - maybe they were having an off day. If you want good cookies go down to the Safeway Shopping Center to NotchTop Cage - yummy cookies and HUGE and all kinds of yummy pies and pastries. Worth the 1/4 mile trek from the downtown area!!

Possibly Grandma is German -- a culture not known for yummy pastries, but rather for things that look great but taste like cardboard. These cookies would be a big hit in Frankfurt. Terribly dry, not very sweet, heavy mess of gluten without enough butter. $5 wasted on two. Even Safeway can do better. Fortunately, I still had a yummy toffee cookie from Panera in Loveland.

The cookies are decent, but pricey. They bake them thick. Which temporarily helped me get over the sticker shock. Until I reached the center of my cookie and found it to be rather dense and devoid of either the oatmeal or raisins that were to be found in the rest of the cookie. High altitude baking is a tricky thing, though. I've had cookies at other high altitude tourist trap towns and these are better than average.

While large and expensive these cookies would be better suited as food for fido than for human consumption. Nothing more than unsweetened lumps of dough.

With all the bakeries and sweet shops on the Estes Park strip, this place can be passed up. Really not worth it in my opinion. Cookies were decent, but pricy. Customer service, the day that we tried the cookie shop, was pretty darn bad. The Eastern European young girl came across pretty rude and was probably just having a bad day.

HUGE, soft cookies for only $2.50! Call me extravagant, but I don't think $2.50 for a monstrous, yummy, soft, fresh cookie is too much. The peanut butter chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin were FAB! Highly recommended -- a great and filling "snack" while walking around in downtown.

After a long day of horseback riding it seemed like this would be the perfect place for an afternoon snack. Plus, we were looking for "mountain cookies" to take with us on the hiking trails during the upcoming week of hiking in RMNP. The reviews were all good, and I thought, "If the market clearing price is $2.80 per cookie, and the Yelp reviews are so positive, they must be really good." My wife went in to buy two cookies and found they were selling them "buy-two-get-one-free." When I heard this I couldn't resist, so went in myself and got three more. The first cookie we tried was the peanut butter chocolate chip. It had no peanut butter flavor, and the texture was worse than Pillsbury frozen "slice and bake" cookies. We thought this must be an aberration. The second one was vanilla. It was even worse. Same Pillsbury frozen slice and bake flavor and texture. Maybe this is what people in Colorado think of as good cookies, judging from the reviews. We still had one hope left.....several of Grandma's "cookie pie" cookies. These are two cookies filled with icing in the middle. How can you miss with icing? Somehow they did. It tasted like chalk. It would have been better had they used Betty Crocker squirt-can icing. Now, four months later we still have one cookie left uneaten in the freezer. The fact that it sat untouched for four months says it all. You would be better off going down the street to Safeway and purchasing Safeway premium cookies in the cookie aisle.

A highlight of every visit to Estes Park. Why? The cookie sandwiches. It's $3-4 well spent.
